Afternoon gents,

Is this guy up to the job? He joined us as Head of recruitment at the start of May 2018 in that process he has signed:

First Team:

Brandon Mason
Abu Agogo
Luke Thomas (Loan)
Junior Brown
Connor Chaplin
Jordy Hiwula
Amadou Bakayoko
Dujon Sterling (Loan)
Bright Enobakhare (Loan)
Jonson Clarke Harris

Develolment Squad:

Zain Westbrooke
Dexter Walters
Reise Allassani
Morgan Williams
Bouwe Bosma
Michael Rose
Declan Drysdale

Apart from the development players we haven't seen how many of these signings will be deemed a success? Personally i would say just Thomas and Sterling both being loans really is disappointing, with reported figures of close to a million pounds spent on three forwards in the permanent list, is this guy on borrowed time?

Of course he is solely not to blame but surely this year's awful transfer business needs to be looked and the traced back to this guy.

First Team:

Brandon Mason - Been okay. Maybe a bit soon yet to say one way or another

Abu Agogo - Failure

Luke Thomas (Loan) - Success

Junior Brown - Failure

Connor Chaplin - Disappointing, but maybe a bit soon for him and we need to see what he can do next season

Jordy Hiwula - A bit meh. Not sure. Has some good games, but disappears in others

Amadou Bakayoko - Too soon to fully judge

Dujon Sterling (Loan) - Success

Bright Enobakhare (Loan) - Too soon

Jonson Clarke Harris - Hit and miss

Develolment Squad:

Zain Westbrooke
Dexter Walters
Reise Allassani
Morgan Williams
Bouwe Bosma
Michael Rose
Declan Drysdale

Need to give all these time to develop. Bosma seems an odd one though.

No idea, as doubt all those signings are attributed to him. Some of the longer term ones the jury is out for a good while. Of the signings for the first team, generally OK, don't believe Brown was a bad signing by any means.

Seems pretty decent to me.

Ogogo is the obvious disaster but he was captain of a top team in the league and on paper looked like a great signing, we'll probably never know why it didn't work out.

Quite excited by most of those development signings.

He is still young, he's still relatively new to the squad. think he needs another season.

He has also been begging MR to play him in his rightful position.

Depends if we was signed to play out wide or as a player to hold the ball up.

He is literally clueless when playing as a front man

He's young, we can't write him off after half a season. His first half a season as a full time starter, we just need to be patient. Too much has been put on him this year for me.

That doesn't make sense. He came in after robins didn't he?

Which players?
Ok well if that’s true I’m wrong I thought he was here before robins ? But still some of the players signed if scouted properly I doubt they would be here now

No he joined after.

How do you know it's an issue with scouting by him? Ogogo and Baka for example

I like Clarke-Harris, I'd start him instead of all this weird get him angry and send him on after an hour stuff.

For ogogo I wouldn’t of gone near him coming back from a bad injury same as brown Chaplin can’t have been watched much he hardly played for them and if he was watched what scout would advise signing him 500k it’s awful business for the player We see weekly.

If his job is head of recruitment scouts should be reporting directly to him surely ?

You mean the ogogo who has now gone to the club where widdrington is? How do you know he wasn't from his list. Baka was

Mason - I do like him as a player, his injury record isn't something to be admired though.
Agogo - Showed glimpses, but overall bad signing.
Thomas - Decent signing.
Brown - Don't rate him.
Chaplin - For £500,000 I expected better.
Hiwula - Hit and miss, sometimes he has decent games, sometimes he struggles, I don't like him playing wide left.
Bakayoko - Needs a run of games.
Sterling - Decent signing
Enobakhare - Needs time.
JCH - Signed prior to Badlan..

Chaplin being judged on his (unconfirmed) price tag again. Good to use objective reasoning.

Again, there is no evidence that we have paid £500k for Chaplin and that isn't the sole criteria for judging him.

Pulling at very bare strings there.

We paid a fee, reported to be what I quoted, when you have a player come in for that fee you expect better than a player who requires four or five chances to score.

Some of the chances Chaplin has missed have been shambolic, the weekend against Blackpool as an example.

It’s not even just missing chances which yes have been awful it’s his all round play first few weeks I rated him his over all game has been awful his so slow in everything he does really wanted the lad to do well but I just can’t see a player in there maybe with a target man tho that might change

Chaplin to me looks like an u23 player who should be in the development squad he’s pretty much on par with Ponti for me

I doubt Chaplin has been scouted to play a deep attacking midfielder. Same as hiwula wouldn't have been to play on the left. Same as bakayoko isn't a target man.
