for better of for worse.....
For me it was Tony Dobson. I'm sure it was against Liverpool at Highfield Road and I remember thinking he never put a foot wrong and made one of the most assured performances I 've ever seen in his position by anyone since.

Micky Quinn, two goals in 3-2 defeat against Man City. Robbie Keane, both goals against Derby and more randomly Lee Mills - brilliant performance and goal against Crystal Palace.

Also, Mick Harford - made his debut as a sub v Newcastle, played 15 minutes, scored the winner and never played for us again.

Nuzzo. But certainly not for the right reasons. In fact, has there been a worse debut for the club than that?

Robbie Keane’s debut for me. My personal debut too - my first ever City match!

At the end of the game I turned to my grandad and said can we stay for the trophy. We didn’t have Skysports and Kodi boxes didn’t exist then and the only football I had seen until that point was the cup finals on the tele, so yep, I thought we’d get a cup for beating Derby 2-0 at home!!

Agree with Lee Mills. He was awesome on debut and looked like a world beater but sadly turned into a carpet beater.

Elliot Ward looked immense in his first game, we'd just spend £1m on a player for the first time in ages and I wanted him to work but he saved about 5 goals that game (it felt like)

Isaias.

Came on as a sub at HR and within 10 seconds absolutely went through the first player he challenged.

First ever Brazilian to play in the Prem as well.

Pretty shit after that though.

Another good debut was Chris Cattlin’s. He was signed, along with Ernie Hunt, a few days before we played Man Utd at home for the first time in the First division. The main Stand had just burnt down, there was a crowd of 48k in the stadium and Chris marked George Best, who a few months later scored in the European Cup final, out of the game. We won 2-0 as well!

His debut was against Man City and he started. Played really well and did everything but score, unfortunately that was the best he ever played for us.

Alex Nimely, scored one and had a hand in the other goals while absolutely running Middlesbrough ragged. Came away certain that we'd seen the next big thing, followed it with about a dozen games of I can't remember this guy playing.

He looked immense that day. Think he had one cleared off the line too.

Absolutely shocking afterwards. Just googled and he plays for FC Honka in Finland.

Tom Bayliss scored after about 2 mins!

The one I got badly wrong is mentioned higher up here and I think I've talked about it before - Kevin Drinkell. We were a good side already when we signed him for about £800k but needed a genuine regular finisher up top. That first game good movement, worked hard and scored the overhead. I said to my dad "this is exactly what we need, a 20-25 goal striker". I think that was his only goal for the rest of the season :(

Adam Armstrong was a bit good too, I wasn't confident against Wigan and here we go with another loan player I wish we didn't have to rely on them so much oh wait he's scored five goals in three wins

Huckerby’s first appearance off the bench at HR was memorable for me. Didn’t score but looked absolutely electric.

On the other hand McAllister’s first performance vs. Forest was not everything that I was hoping for.
