Notice Burge has taken himself off twitter as well. Probably fearing the amount of abuse he was going to get.

Wise move, some people love nothing more than to give an inexperienced learning player a good kick when they are down. Some of the comments on here are pathetic.

Allsopp is better than Burge currently end of.
Allsopp is nowhere near as good as Murphy that is where the main problem lies.

Burge should be Allsopp's understudy imo he is not yet at his level.
I suppose the main debate is do we think Burge will improve dramatically given a chance.
Although goalies mature later than outfield players personally I am bloody relieved decision taken out
of Pressley's hands meaning Allsopp returns for the next three games.

Do we need a better goalie than either - yes ideally but if not Allsopp should start.
I'd love to be proved wrong but think Burge's future lies in conference or league 2 - no disgrace in that just do not
think he has it to be top goalie he's not that young now after all.

Never saw you defend Allsopp when the shit was flying around him.

I can name so many who have and it did not lead to them getting bombed out of their clubs.

Name a goalie then -- I can't think of one.

Also again I ask as you quote youth to differentiate between the two keepers what is the age difference?

I think you will find Nick said professional footballer. However it will not be too hard to find a goalkeeper who has reacted and got sent off, if I really must??

Well I have never ever seen one do what he did today.

It isn't just that, it's the fact he is an awful goalkeeper. He can't kick straight.

You will have seen loads of players get fouled and then retaliate and kick out.
He just happens to be in the box that's where he plays.
Some times it happens to them when they are younger and less experienced. It would be incredibly harsh to bomb him out of the club for a mistake.
If you did that then Reda must go for his clash of heads that derailed our good run of form. His is worse he is the captain and very experienced.
I would rather an experienced older keeper in goal but I don't agree with abusive names or demanding Burge be bombed out

I don't care what they do with him as long as he stays away from the first team.

Honestly he is as bad as Nuzzo in my opinion and as JWM says Allsop is by miles the better keeper. That in itself says all we need to know.

"If you relax, mistakes happen. I will be concentrating the whole time on Sunday." - Coventry City Goalkeeper Lee Burge

Fri 07 Nov 2014
Author: Tom Bloomfield

..we are taking the game the same as if we were playing another League One club.. Lee Burge,
Sky Blues keeper not resting on his laurels ahead of City facing Worcester City at the Ricoh Arena in the FA Cup first round…

Coventry City keeper Lee Burge insists that there will be no complacency from him or any of his team mates ahead of the Sky Blues' game against Worcester City at the Ricoh Arena in the FA Cup first round.

City face a side that sit three leagues below them in the English League pyramid and the Dragons almost pulled off a shock before losing 3-1 to City at Highfield Road in 1983.

The Hereford-born shot stopper has wary of the threat the Dragons will pose Sunday and hopes to ensure there will be no upsets after the first whistle.

"You have to concentrate," he said. "As a goalkeeper you have to be on your toes every minute, when you don't that's when mistakes happen. I will be concentrating every minute Sunday, as we don't want to embarrass ourselves.

"We're doing the same tactics in training as normal, and we are taking the game the same as if we were playing another League One club."

City reached the fourth round of the cup last season, going out to the eventual winners Arsenal. A solid defence was a main reason behind that cup run and Burge believes City have the strength in depth across the pitch to produce their best.

He continued: "Obviously we have a few players who may not play, due to loans or injuries or whatever. But whoever is there will be good enough and will be ready.

"Obviously the captain (Reda Johnson) is a big influence, but we have capable players of filling his spot, whether it is an upcoming league game or, as is the case for Sunday, a game where we are favourites to win."

Despite being born and growing up in nearby Hereford, Burge played down claims of any personal 'rivalry' with the neighbouring town of Worcester.

"There really isn't a rivalry!" He laughed. "The two towns haven't really played each other much, so there's not really any bad feelings.

"We've got Shrewsbury and Gloucester near us. But there's no rivalry. I just want to play well and get us into the next round of the draw."

Scott Loach has just gone on loan to Bury in league 2

Would have been ideal for us, bags of experience and has been called up the senior England squad on several occasions.

*******Thread bump*********

(I await the shit for having the audacity to bump a thread. Crime of the century to some. I also withhold the right to not have this rebumped if Lee has a dip in form in the future)

I always thought that Burge had enough attributes to make a good goalie. What I always thought he did severely lack was confidence and this caused him to panic. Seems to be playing with confidence at the moment and it tells.

Some very funny comments on here though.

How many times have you seen him play Tony?

That you were as clueless then as you are now?
Or that sometimes younger players get better with maturity.

Are you serious? He was useless against Oxford and Rochdale. He rarely catches the ball out pushes it out into the middle of the pitch most of the time.

We were against terrible opposition who did nothing for 90% of the time.

You said when you bumped the thread about turnaround in form.

He's had one decent game against weak opposition.

Come back in a few weeks and see what's happening after a run of games.

I'd just pose one question.
How many points did he cost us that season or this.
One qualifier to this, one swallow doesn't make a summer and he could revert, I don't think he will, his confidence is far more obvious now.
But that first question is the one that really matters. IMO I

Haha this thread is hilarious. Look at the abuse Burge gets for a mistake compared to RCC.

Exactly this. He might have cost us 1 or 2 points. RCC cost about 4 or 5 points this season alone in 10 games and plenty last season.

The thread was justified at the time...Burge was awful at the time and deserved criticism.

I've not seen him play this season so cannot judge but by all accounts, he's improved. We've got the joint best 'goals against' record in L1 so he, along with the defence deserves some credit for that.

But let's not drag up threads from 2 years ago to say 'ha ha, told you so'. This isn't a playground (all of the time).

It's not to say ha ha I told you do.
It's in the futile hope that some people when they are ripping the shit out of our younger players who are developing, learning and maturing as footballers stop and think a Little before they do.
Younger players will have dips in form. Make mistakes ect.
People may feel they need to be rested or pulled out of the first team.
However there is rarely a need to be so harsh.

He is a twat, a c**t and a knob. Get him out of the club quick.
Not really he is crap. Which he isn't by the way he just had a blip in form.
Whether you think he is good enough for CCFC or not. Some of the comments in this thread were pathetic.
