I find it captivating as a 51 year old! I love the beginning when she's on the ship. Music is great too.

Who was that great old Irish Actor who dragged her off to his ship?
Found that film captivating as a 10-12 year old!:)
Milo O'shea? Great eyebrows.

Barbarella was a great film. Rarely seen on TV. Whoever owns the rights to it, is pretty stingy with that.

Everything is great about it. As I say I love the music and the album. The film is great too, so weird. There's Pygar the angel and the dolls biting her legs. Plus the Sex Machine and the Chamber of Dreams. I have it on DVD. I haven't seen it on tele for years.

Probably my favourite ever film. Always loved the soundtrack. Remember years ago buying a three disc bootleg soundtrack from Japan for £80! That was before the Vangelis soundtrack was available, you could only get the New American Orchestra version at the time, which wasn't very good.

Defo in my top 10 perhaps even top 5. I was about 12 at the time it came out and blew me away, but didn't appreciate the music until I was older.

I was 17 when we went to see it at the cinema in Leam. Blew me away too. One of the first films set in the future where everything wasn't bright and silver.

Looking forward to Oct 6th when the sequel is released, I've just noticed that the soundtrack is being done by Johan Johansson who did the Arrival soundtrack that I posted the other day

I shall buy that I think. They have recently re-released the Aliens soundtrack on vinyl but they cost a fortune at £60 so I might have to save up for that one. The pre-order for Alien is £40. Both superb soundtracks too.

I've been listening to the Arrival soundtrack over the last few days on Spotify. I really like it so thanks for bringing it to my attention. Much appreciated.

"And I been standing in the standing room
And I been smoking in the smoking room
And now I'm dying in the living room
Waiting for you is like waiting for the man in the moon

Your time's up and me too
I'm out on account of you"

I imagine the words "You give me such adrenaline, don't you know the state I'm in?" and yet relistening now I don't hear them. Another track?

Been listening to the later albums in the car (Fiction, Land...). Always felt before that they lacked the genius of the first, but with the value of hindsight they sound brilliant now.

I like the later stuff too. I think Land and 7 Day are great albums.

Meant to say, did you buy the Dream Command album?

I think I've got the latest reissued CD but I don't recall having listened to it yet. I stopped buying their albums after Land as I thought they'd become too commercial at the time. Also stopped buying Cure albums around the same time (didn't like The Top). I wish the Cure would go back to the style of 17 Seconds/Faith/Pornography. Their newer stuff just sounds so facile in comparison.

Swans are making the music I like now. Have The Glowing Man on as I'm working from home today.

The Dream Command album is actually not too bad. I remember getting it cheap from Amazon for under a tenner a year or so ago. Just looked again and it's only £6 on vinyl.

I'm the same with the Cure. I bought 17 Seconds and Faith and then nothing after the Lovecats as it did my head in.
