Coming down on Friday and fancied trying somewhere different to have a few beers out of the centre, I've never been to the Wheatsheaf but I understand that's where a lot of Cov fans go, what are the other pubs like on Foleshill Road ?

In fact any pubs in Cov in general worth going for a pint ? Don't really fancy two days sat at the bar in the Casino

Cheers

Earlsdon good, City Arm's and Royal Oak.

Coundon you've got The Holyhead.

Town Centre up towards the Council house, Golden Cross, Drapers, Slug and Lettuce.

For match-days, Wheatsheaf and a load of Social clubs down Foleshill rd. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me re. Foleshill rd will be along to help!

Personally, gonna head for Dhillons this week, near the Ricoh, if it's open(?)

Hmm, will have to give it a go then. Always used to be one of my favourites, but got a bit bored being served pints of piss, with only me and my mate in the building!
I don't recall it being that bad in there, sounds gruesome! although it's been some years since I used to go upstairs to have a pint on a Friday night, I just remember it being a bit sticky underfoot...

Come down to the Three Horseshoes next door to the fire station. We are a friendly bunch in there, and the beer is usually good.

Three Horsehoes & Wheatsheaf - spit and sawdust type pubs. Popular with City fans.
JK English - Is it still open? If so, see above.
Parkstone - Big members club with pool table. Non members welcome
RAOB or 'The Buffs' - Unsure if still open
Foleshill Gas Club - Small social club near the ground. Friendly place but can get busy.

The Devon is busy in Wyken, you can get the bus from Tesco (703 I think) and it drops you right outside.

Sounds a bit like Quids Inn. Was in there a few months back and ordered 3 double rum and cokes for me and my two mates. The person behind the bar opened a brand new bottle of rum and poured it in. When I went back to the table and started drinking it, it was 100% Whiskey. My other friends thought the same too.

Weird.

That place is dreadful. Used to quite like it when it was Gringos years ago as a stop off place.

I went in with my missus (it was full of foreign students but not one of them was actually drinking anything, even soft drinks were scarcely being ordered), the girl behind the bar was a bit sniffy because we weren't students.

Gringos, down by the Campbell?

Still remember undoing the salt lids in there and sitting watching all the chuffed students tucking in to their dinner and getting a bottle of salt on it while hammering snakebite and blacks all day. Those were the days

Back in the day they used to hate you around there if you weren't a student.

In my experience it was never that bad, certainly worse these days with 'Strictly only a students venue' nonsense. The Campbell itself was very student orientated but doesn't as bad now.

I'm in the Casino now ! Had a swift couple on the way to the Ricoh in the Weatherspoons, so 3 Horseshoes and The Wheatsheaf a good bet for this evening then ? The scummy pubs people usually avoid, that's where I'm most at home, I don't like fancy wine bars and clubs, I'm an old school pub drinker, like a pool table and a decent pint.

Whenever i'm back i always go in the Bull and Anchor on Wheelwright Lane.
Always a friendly bunch, with loads of Cov in there too and just a short walk down Burbages Lane to the ground.
