...following Robins comments regarding the players being unfit which player will piss off and not bother with some extra fitness work?

They probably all will as I expect the manager to have tailored his sessions to meet the needs of the squad. Therefore, over training may actually hinder the player.

Players will report in injured and mysteriously cannot play for the rest of the season, I happens all the time for everyone! There are players who don't give a shit as long as they are paid sadly it is the case

This. Surely the players need to trust in the coaches to give them an adequate schedule

What's to stop us putting a fitness clause into players contracts when they sign?

Surely anyone not wanting to sign it would be off the list right away. Just state they have to maintain a certain level of fitness when not injured.

We should put a clause in, would think it should be standard for any player. the same as a body fat % clause.

i imagine pre season didnt go smoothly. alot of players didnt come in from window till late and maybe mowbray was focussing more on that than on the training pitch?

then he was followed by 2 people who can only loosley be classed as managers. so fitness has plumetted and players probably think the training sessions are shite.

    all above are assumptions

With a couple of weeks of the season left to play, how on earth can they be "unfit"? Clearly massively unqualified to play football even at this level yes, but unfit?

Remember ages ago there was a thread about them training until lunchtime or for a couple of hours and people finding it hilarious they did fuck all?

If they are not injured but simply unfit, they should not get paid.

Find me a £70k a year job where you don't work 50 hour weeks minimum as standard.

    (MP doesn't count :p)

You are mostly talking about the kids this club is so dependant on, because owners won't employee more 'expensive' players. So as they are very young professionals they will get tired, fatigued early than hardened pros. So many games in this league and added games in the Mickey Mouse Cup all takes its toll. They're frickin knackered out and losing games so mentally knackered also. I blame Sisu.

Slades overall record as a manager is not bad - it stands scrutiny against Mowbray in terms of wins and points averages. It didn't work here but put downs based on no statistical evidence is very childish

I'm not going into specific, as I only offer my view as an opinion. But generally the kids are having to play too many games. As a sports scientist. I'm not.

i thought you had given up on this flame baiting with me? he was terrible here, thats all i can comment on. if his tactics are anything to go on i imagine training was as basic as it gets.

once again i repeat this is just assumptions.

Start with both goalies Burge and Cook. Stevenson, Willis. Haynes. Thomas. All tiring. What do you think? Don't believe players get fatigued from too many games?

Willis is hardly a "kid" is he?

Haynes has 21 appearances and G Thomas 27.

If you think they are burning out they need to get a new career and you need to get a new obsession.

Maybe Nick you should ask Robins what he thinks. Straight from the horses mouth. More reliable than me.

He has said they have all burnt out because Tim Fisher told certain players they had to play in the checkatrade? OR did he say the players weren't fit enough?

If you can pick one that's factual and maybe at least makes a bit of sense for the next one ;)

Not fit enough is something entirely different to too fatigued isn't it?

Why? Nonsense to some. Reality to others. Can I ask you do you think Mr Fisher has had a successful season this year and should sail into next year with his head held high?

What's that got to do with fitness of the players?

That's the standard reply pretty much when nonsense gets pointed out ;)

No reply to that one also. Let's start a new thread and ask if all guys on here feel Fisher is doing well for Sisu. Sorry rephrase that. Doing well for the club. What do you reckon percentage wise? I'd guess 75% pants. Have a guess, go on.

What's that got to do with fitness levels of players?

You do realise if you say something on one topic, then it gets pointed out as nonsense, it isn't a reply to then just pick something else to go on about that's not related. You may as well just say "yes, but today is Monday isn't it".

How have the players burnt out due to the cup run like you keep saying, and not because they are just unfit / training etc?

If you speak with Robins (which I have) he will tell you that the young players are jaded and have played to much football in the last 18 months. Also, they have adopted a losing mentality which compounds the problem. The young players (both contracted and loaned) have had to play as recent managers (Slade and Venus) have all had to take the short term view.
Fitness and training is nothing to do with tiredness in teenagers. Their bodies are still growing and need lots of rest.
Thee young players should not have been put in this position. All boils down to the recruitment last summer.
Blame TM or blame SISU for not providing funds but that is the real issue.

Really? Did he mention any of the young players in particular?

None of them have played massive amounts of football. Ben Stevenson for example has started 23 games, I wouldn't say that's an awful lot for a 19 year old touted to be worth Millions.

Jodi Jones has started 10 games. That is 4 less than the old boy Nathan Clarke.

If the young players really are "burning out" I'd say its a lot to do with fitness and management of them. Same with "losing" mentality, any person being played to play a sport should be ashamed to have one of those, you get Sunday league teams who get dicked 10-0 week in week out who show more fight and passion.

Poor 19 year old footballer who has had to play over 20 games, there are 16 year olds who play Saturday's and Sundays who then go to work all week and train in the evenings. There are probably 40 year olds who do it too, they won't have access to physios, nutritionists, sports scientists etc either.

DKE has 19 starts this season, is that really too much for a 20 year old pro footballer?
