I mean we already know there is lots of competition to sign Vik and that the club has rejected offers and is holding out for a top offer. So we know it’s bollocks. The minimum we’ll get is £17m plus some add-ons. I suspect we’ll get £20m as buyers get more desperate.

Funnily enough it’s such a sellers market that barely matters.

    Hamer

Hopefully they can meet on the middle with Gus. But it would be a huge plus to keep him. Everyone knows he’s now the heart of the team. A big test for Doug. Make it happen.

‘Reports from Portugal last week claimed that Sporting are now willing to push to just over £17m to get their man’. No mention of add ons. ‘City’s valuation for the player, however, is understood to be north of £20m’. I’d call £4m or £5m significant. Significant enough to pay some decent...

He wants us to significantly undersell him (in our well known poor financial position) so he can get exactly what he wants. Sound pretty self centred to me given what we’ve done for his career. Obviously King would be mad to entertain that and he won’t.

I’ve no idea what was said to him and when and nether have you. In the end he signed a contract. It would have been madness to release him from it in January when we needed to push for the playoffs. Why should he have had any expectation we would release him half way through his contract under...

    Hamer

The owner backs the management judgement. Hamer is the heart of the team and worth investing some of the money made on the playoff run. Allen and Godden are easily replaceable, Hamer is not. I think the players realise that as well.

Because we know what other championship players are on. It’s not as difficult as you are making out. In any industry you pay more to retain your best.

    Hamer

    Fair enough. Brave man.

Because 20k would probably secure Hamer’s signature. That’s who we’re talking about.

    Hamer

Not that specific was he… ‘We need to be knocking on the play-off door every single year and we need to get into those play-offs and try to get through the door. That’s the goal that I have set for the club, for the manager’.

    Hamer

Is there really a wage structure in top flight football? I don’t think so. It’s dog eat dog and about prioritising your star players. Hamer is the heart of the team, everyone knows that including the players. generally the bottom line is Doug King doesn’t have that much money and has made it...

Has Doug King ever set a target of us getting to the premiership in 5 years??

    Season tickets

In the end I guess Doug took a gamble on waiting hoping for the premiership golden season ticket egg. He lost the gamble and championship season ticket sales will be lost because of it. There’s no doubt to me demand now will be quite a lot lower than when the bandwagon was really rolling a few...

    Transfer Rumour Jerry Yates

Could also do with a mouthy midfield bastard to wake everyone up and kick a few arses from the start of games.

    Transfer Rumour Jerry Yates

I doubt that. I think this is the level of striker we are looking at as a Vik replacement. We need some width in the team. So hopefully get someone in who can drift wide with pace. Else a real wing back.

    Doug King Interview

I’ve not come across anyone expecting large net investment from Doug King. Most just want reinvestment of most the money from sales into the squad and some decent visibility of the plan. What I don’t want to see is lightweight squad investment and some nebulous ‘infrastructure investment ’...

Day Trippers, Glory Hunters....isnt it getting a bit boring now?

Does any of this really matter? It’s all just tribalism. You want to be in the ultra, fanatic tribe and feel superior? then fill your boots. In the end the club needs the whole range of supporters. I found my sister and her son watched the game. Didn’t know she had any interest whatsoever in...

The Rebuild- Around Hamer and Sheaf

Im personally still quite unsure about Doug King, why he bought the club and what his intentions are for the next few years. He certainly isn’t going to flash the cash and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is very conservative in bringing players in. We’ll see.
