Browne looks a decent pick up on a free, and will add much needed experience to the squad.

Would have some serious question marks on whether he’d improve our starting XI though. And with that I’d be slightly concerned he’s on a long deal with big wages.

He would improve it. The bench alone would go from kai Andrews to a 400 game championship player if he ended up there

Is he definitely better than Eccles and Torp? I’m not sure. Helps the squad for sure, but I think there’s a decent chance we have another JDS situation on our hands.

He'd start with Sheaf.

Need two number 10s so rudobi wouldn't be enough on his own for that position if Palmer goes too

As for lati I assume he goes only if there is chance to make good money. Can't see robins being desperate to get rid.

I'm not even sure we need one if its true we will be using a 433 come 442 next season

Hes an improvement on Liam Kelly and Jamie Allen, and slightly above Eccles, so definite improvement

I'm going to assume that Kyprianou is the potential Sheaf succession plan. You reckon we'd look to bring him in even if Sheaf stays? Might end up a bit over stocked in there if so.

Assuming we play a 3 then you’d think Eccles with start in there too.

Sure he’ll be solid enough. I just wonder if it improves us.
If its a flatter 3 then yeh sure, I assumed a 3 like this season but good to have options isn't it. Either way I'm sure Eccles will learn a lot from an experienced campaigner like Browne.

Exactly this - he’d be the Kelly replacement / upgrade. Gritt and experience.

Be great pick up.

think Allen may stay, as long as he’s happy being 4th choice.

agree on a 10, 433 will make us bit more solid. Our front 3 have goals galore

Im not sure we would be over stocked …. At times we played Lati in midfield because we lacked options Robins was prepared to play.

I assume Howley will go out on loan again ….

Was just thinking if we play the same formation as this season, we'd have Sheaf, Eccles, Torp, Browne... Kyprianou too would possibly be a bit overkill unless Torp is used further forward. You have to keep them all happy and all would start for many teams in this division.

I think another CM depends on what we're going to go with formation wise first

If it is 433 then you would assume another one in. If its 442 then Sheaf, Browne, Torp, Eccles Allen is easily enough

Again though, will Allen leave? Hes on a decent contract for another 2 years, why would he go elsewhere? He is also handy to have across the middle of injuries bite

I personally think if we land Browne, that will be it in CM for now, as long as we keep Sheaf

Sheaf, Browne, Torp, Eccles with Allen to cover is easily good enough for a top 6 midfield

Playing a 6 and 2 8's makes more sense for next year rather than the current 2 6's and a 10.

We seem to be building a squad that suits that and good 8's are easier to come by than good 10s.

Agree with this, especially if it is 433 come 442 we will be playing next season

Rudoni if he comes in i fell would be the man who comes in and out depending on changes

In that case I'm going to assume the option on Kyprianou was always only planned on being taken up if Sheaf moved on.

Makes sense, I'd suggest our current midfield crop might need to develop a bit more of an eye for goal if we go this way. Then again when we play Palmer as a 10 he rarely scores either so may as well be a bit more solid in the middle.

It makes sense, 2 options at the 6 with Sheaf and Eccles, many options at the 8 with Allen, Browne, Torp and Eccles, and options to play the creative CM thats sort of like a cross between a 10 and 8 in Torp, Palmer and potentially Browne or Allen

If Simms, Haji and Tats carry on their goalscoring record into next season theoretically minus injuries and if they played say 38 full games each will score :
Simms 20 goals
Haji 19 goals
Tats 12 goals
Thats already 51 goals and I’d back EMC to bag 7 or 8 taking it up to 58/59, thats a good amount of goals already and if you have a couple players on 1, 2 or 3 goals it should be all good, although I’d back Torp to score quite a few next season

Horses for courses probably play a Rudoni for a game we should be winning against a team who might play slightly deeper

play a flatter 3 away from home

If we have CM locked in it makes me wonder who the Peterborough player we have first dibs on is. It could in theory still be a CM and we have changed our minds, but I'm wondering if its someone else.

I don’t know what you’re on about there tbh, I’m just stating an opinion about how our non-European signings this season have been relatively poor. I’m not having a go at you or anyone in particular, I just don’t know why everyone gets carried away with other league 1 or championship players.
We need experienced championship players in our team that need minimal time to settle in. It took the above mentioned players a while before we saw the best of them.

I was told the option on the player was Kyprianou. Would make sense because correct me if im talking shit here but everytime ive watched him he seems very Sheaf-esque. Tidy on the ball, shows for it off defenders, turns and drives, can spread the play, he even glides about the middle like Sheaf

But with Browne looking likely, i cant see us going for Kyprianou

Well these are the signings we can make at no extra cost. Anyone else requiring a fee is going to have to wait until Gyo or Sheaf depart

Heard last night he’s got 8 goals this year for posh

that’s decent from a 6

a 29 year old established midfielder is just what we need, nothing wrong at all with having someone a bit older who’s been there and done it at this level.
