Sam Allardyce has left Crystal Palace making him free to become part of Gary Hoffmans consortium? No conflicting interests like before. Gets to stay in football without the day to day running of a team, which he feels too old for. Read his autobiography, loved his time at Cov, mates with Gouldy, loves a gamble. Watch this space. If he came in as a co investor and also with a remit to rebuild the football side of the business that would be a great coup for us. I'd massively support that.

why do you think he would give up a job in the Premiership to get involved with us? I'm not saying he wouldn't, just seems like a strange move.

Maybe he has just retired. He had an angioplasty a few years back, perhaps he wants to do other stuff.

The clue may lie in his resignation statement - says the full on 24/7 management "especially in the Premier League" isn't for him any more, wants to enjoy life while he is still reasonably young and healthy. But somehow you can't imagine him sitting around at home pruning the rose bushes.

So instead of the hamster wheel of steering clubs away from the drop zone, he could work for us in a more relaxed way; partly as an investor, partly as a different and less intense role but keeping his hand in within football, partly as a retirement project. It would give him the chance to work in a business he co-owns, and he'd be able to work on club development in a less "coal face", more strategic way - maybe not full time but certainly in a overseeing role where he could influence our longer term development which you can't do as a manager.

He is a multi millionaire ffs and good luck to him, 62 years old, had a bit of a health scare a bit back he's doing the best thing imo, will still get the odd gig on TV/ radio as a pundit for certain. There's no pockets in shrouds.
As for working with us, why ??

"There's no pockets in shrouds". - You can request all sorts from funeral directors these days but it may be why I am where I am, having to work into my 60s but why Diego Costa would ever go to China for the money when he has accumulated more money than he needs already, hopefully Rooney will go to a club for the right reasons and not chasing more dollar.

If you are standing at the main road with the stadium behind you there is a set of traffic lights to your right. The other side of the traffic lights is Grimsby. Behind the stadium is the mouth of the river Humber. The locals go to Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea or Skeggy and leave the holiday makers to the river that looks like the sea :dead:

He could not give a shite about Cov , I enjoyed a trip to York but would not want to move there.

Oh a certain Mr Rednapp retired as well hmmm ...

He lives in the northwest but is from the midlands origanally. Has mutual business associates with Hoffman. But who knows. He might be just remembered as the ex Cov brute that did ballet for us pre season, rather than start a new era.

Second eldest lad is a season ticket holder there.

If it is a winter game I will be going in with the home supporters in the stand that backs off to the sea wall. The away support is behind the goal in a corner. The wind always comes off the North sea and is freezing. There is a gap between the stands so no cover from the wind. Coldest ground I have ever been to.

The last time we played there I had family and friends looking for me.....until we scored. I was the only one in the whole stand jumping up and down like an idiot :smuggrin:
